New Opportunities for TMK in the Uzbekistan–Japan Economic Dialogue

The 18th Joint Meeting of the Uzbekistan–Japan and Japan–Uzbekistan Committees for Economic Cooperation was held in Tashkent.

The meeting brought together a delegation led by Japan’s State Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, Kenji Yamada, as well as representatives of leading Japanese companies and institutions, including Mitsubishi Corporation, JETRO, JOGMEC, JICA, JBIC and NEXI.

Uzbekistan Technological Metals Complex (TMK) also took part in the economic dialogue, holding discussions on promising areas of industrial, technological and investment cooperation.

One of the key topics on the agenda was cooperation in the field of critical minerals and the development of resilient supply chains. The parties explored opportunities for technological cooperation, joint industrial projects and long-term partnerships in this strategically important sector.

A key outcome of the meeting was the exchange of a Memorandum of Cooperation on the marketing and promotion of critical metals in the Japanese market between Uzbekistan Technological Metals Complex (TMK) and Masaki Tanimoto, Chairman of the Japan–Uzbekistan Committee for Economic Cooperation and Senior Advisor to Mitsubishi Corporation.

The memorandum creates new opportunities to promote critical metals produced in Uzbekistan in the Japanese market, strengthen sustainable trade links and further develop long-term industrial cooperation between Uzbekistan and Japan.
