A delegation led by Kungirotboy Sharipov, Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, visited the modern industrial facilities of the Uzbekistan Technological Metals Complex (TMK) in Chirchiq.
The delegation included the rectors of New Uzbekistan University, Tashkent State Technical University, the Tashkent Institute of Chemical Technology, and Almalyk State Technical Institute, as well as the heads of the Tashkent branch of the University of Pisa, Turin Polytechnic University in Tashkent, and the Almalyk branch of the National University of Science and Technology MISIS.
The meeting focused on the development of a dual education system at TMK, the introduction of fundamentally new mechanisms for cooperation between industry, science, and education, and the establishment of branches of specialized university departments at the Complex.
The delegation was also introduced to the modern industrial and innovation facilities being established by TMK, including the Metals of the Future Technopark in Chirchiq, the R&D Park, the Situation Center, the Cooperation Center, and the Information and Analytical Center.
The guests gained detailed insight into the opportunities these facilities will provide for the commercialization of scientific research, the digitalization of production, the introduction of artificial intelligence technologies, and the training of a new generation of specialists.
The dialogue resulted in a series of agreements on initiatives aimed at bringing cooperation between science and industry to a qualitatively new level. In particular, the parties agreed on:
➡️ establishing a Scientific and Technical Council at TMK;
➡️ introducing a dual education system;
➡️ aligning the research conducted by master’s and doctoral students with TMK’s practical production needs;
➡️ conducting scientific research and holding thesis defenses directly at TMK facilities;
➡️ establishing systematic cooperation with technical colleges.
The meeting served as a practical embodiment of the state policy pursued under the leadership of President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, aimed at strengthening the integration of science, education, and industry, developing an innovation-driven economy, and training highly qualified engineering professionals.
The implementation of these joint initiatives at TMK will help align the country’s scientific potential with the practical needs of industry, accelerate the introduction of modern technologies, and support the production of high-value-added products.
